About YouCounsel
YouCounsel was founded by Amer Mushtaq, a Toronto-based lawyer and partner at Formative LLP, with over 18 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
Over the years, Amer has assisted clients in a wide range of matters, including employment and human rights cases, commercial and family law disputes, immigration appeals, real estate and construction lien matters, and product liability issues. His work across these diverse areas has given him a deep understanding of both the substance of the law and the realities of navigating the legal system.
Driven by a genuine passion for sharing knowledge and demystifying the law, Amer began creating educational content to help others understand legal issues in simple, practical terms. That passion led to the launch of his YouTube channel in 2016, which has since helped thousands of self-represented litigants gain confidence in handling their own legal challenges.
YouCounsel is not a law firm, but a project of Formative LLP, created to empower self-represented litigants with knowledge and confidence. All paid legal services are provided through Formative LLP.
